Driving With License Suspended Program (DLS)

This program is designed to help   people regain their drivers license while they pay off their fines and fees. Participants work with the Case Manager to develop a contract including a payment plan with the Vermont Judicial Bureau.

Some participants may be eligible for a reduction in their fines, and some may provide community service and/or  participate in an educational program in exchange for reduction in fines and fees owed. In order to participate in the program, someone must meet the underlying suspension requirements, such as serving out a suspension period required by accumulation of points.

Not everyone is  eligible for this program. People whose current suspension is a result of a DUI are not eligible for this program. Successful completion means past civil violations will not count towards more serious criminal charges, however failure to follow through with the contract will lead to immediate suspension of their drivers license.

Restorative Justice Services is a reflection of a growing partnership and collaboration with the Department of Corrections in working with individuals who have been incarcerated and are reentering the community.
