Youth Substance Awareness Safety Program (YSASP)
This program a confidential referral program specifically designed for persons aged 16-20 who are caught consuming, possessing or attempting to obtain alcohol or marijuana (1 oz. or less).
Once someone is referred to the program, the minor is then required to complete a standard contract. Upon successful completion of the contract, the minor then avoids subsequent legal penalties for this offense. If someone does not complete the program successfully, it will result in the 90 day suspension of their driver’s license and a $300 fine, which could result in higher insurance rates.
Fake I.D. and/or alcohol consumption equaling .02 or higher (while operating a motor vehicle) is not part of this program and carries unrelated civil consequences.
