Restorative Justice (RJ) in Schools
Through this confidential restorative justice program, high risk youth referred by Department for Children & Families are held accountable and given opportunities to build skills that will help them make better decisions in the future.
The goal of this program is to prevent juveniles from getting into more serious trouble and keep them in the community where they learn positive life skills. The Community Mentor works closely with these individuals to help youth develop the skills necessary for independent living, as well as integrate community activities to improve positive relationships.
Restorative panels are formed for juveniles who have caused harm to another person and meet with community members as well as the victim of their offenses to find ways for the juvenile to repair the harm that was caused by their actions.
